Women & Youth Empowerment
Advocating for a brighter future regardless of gender.
“The seeds of success in every nation on Earth are best planted in women and children.”
– Joyce Banda
The Problem
Everyday, the importance of our women and youth for the development of society becomes more pronounced. In order to effect change, investing in our future leaders and the women that create, nurture and transform society.
Amongst the issues facing our youth and women in the world today, three principal drivers for change were considered that guide our actions and projects:
- Vulnerable widows face a number of burdens and challenges in the society owing to the demise of their husbands, especially in rural communities where there aren’t adequate support mechanisms.
- Today’s youth face many uncertainties of the future including the affordability of tertiary institutions.
Our Solution
In the hopes of providing hope for a brighter future for our women and children, three projects have been initiated. The WYEP framework will enable additional projects to be included if they contribute to the outcomes and benefits for this programme.
-
Widows Support Project
An annual distribution of food stuff, clothing and training to the widows in the community who struggle after the loss of their husbands. While they are mostly run in collaboration with other projects, the Widows Support Project remains to ensure that they never become an oversight and are always considered. -
PAF Vocational & Entrepreneurship Training Project
With 7 previous editions, the Facilitated Trainings and Empowerment Programme for rural women, men and youths focus mainly on the Agricultural Sector: educating communities on Mechanised farming, Fisheries and Poultry farming, and the Value Chain Addition for Income Enhancement. All selected beneficiaries are provided with business starter packs, monetary aids and equipment for artisans & SMEs immediately after the training.
